For over 60 years, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has served as a community resource for homeless animals. The organization promotes responsible pet care through adoptions, education, spay and neuter assistance and community service and outreach. It operates the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility that accepts any and all animals in need of homes. In addition to cats and dogs, the shelter also accepts and places rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs, birds, chinchillas, iguanas and many other animals.

The Neighborhood Resource Center is a service provided by the Town of Herndon and Fairfax County. The NRC, a multipurpose center, offers integrative services to residents. The space includes multipurpose rooms, meeting rooms, a waiting and reception area, a learning center, a computer lab, classrooms and a kitchen. The center houses a Community Association Reference Library, which contains information to help strengthen community associations. Other programs offered include the Neighborhood Watch Program and other police-citizen services.
Fraternal Order of Eagles is a community organization that hosts bingo, children's activities and a number of private events each year. It also partners with a number of local charities in the Fredericksburg area. Annual membership dues are $30 per person and all new members must be sponsored by a current member.
Fredericksburg Bible Institute is a bible school for students who want to know more about the bible or who want to dedicate their lives to full-time Christian service.

This large Lafayette Boulevard thrift shop features clothes for the entire family and an assortment of electronics. The glass-enclosed cases boast featured items, and the store has a colored tag sale weekly. Donations are accepted at its back door Monday through Saturday from 9am to 4pm.
This church's current sanctuary has stood on Hanover Street since 1842, and the congregation's roots reach back to the early 1800s. Fredericksburg United Methodist Church is located in the heart of downtown Fredericksburg, directly across from City Hall. The small park next to the sanctuary is lined with a few benches. The church offers a variety of worship services throughout the week.
