Hazelwild Farm Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the academic and physical development of children and adults. Hazelwild offers a day school, summer camp program, community riding program, University of Mary Washington equestrian program, American Interschool Riding Competition, and Heroes Therapeutic Riding Program.
The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank provides food to people in need in the five counties of Planning District 16. The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank partners with more than 80 different member agencies in providing food for the poor and hungry. The Fredericksburg Area Food Bank does not give out food to individuals at this location. Instead, the food is repackaged and stored here for distribution to the different member agencies and food pantries. It is these smaller charities that deliver the food to the needy.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a nationwide organization with more than 100 learning institutes based around the country, including one based at George Mason University. This group provides numerous programs and opportunities for mature adults, offering a stimulating environment where students can learn and grow. The location offers various academic courses, special events and cultural activities, including classes in art, music, current events, finance, economics and other areas. Some classes include digital photography, drawing workshops, history, international studies, the gold rush and mathematics.
Rebuilding Together is a non-profit organization based on Princess Street in Alexandria. The group has a national network of over 200 affiliates and offers a wide range of services and programs, focusing on repair work by volunteers for homes and neighborhoods for people in need. The group offers repair programs year round and also holds a special National Rebuilding Day in the month of April. Repair services are free of charge and include programs for elderly clients, physically challenged clients and more. Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault provides counseling services for survivors of sexual assault at no cost, in addition to a 24/7 hotline and hospital accompaniment services. The outreach team also provides education programs for schools and allied professionals throughout Planning District 16.
