Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market is an urban foodie's paradise, a whole city block of fresh meat and seafood, local produce and dairy, decadent pastries and desserts. Since 1892, the Reading (pronounced like "redding") Terminal Market, named after the train station that was once located here, has been home to dozens of retailers serving the public, as well as local chefs looking to pick up ingredients.

Parking and Public Transportation at Reading Terminal Market

Reading Terminal Market offers $4 parking at nearby garages at 11th and Arch and at 12th and Filbert; you can take advantage of this deal if you've made $10 worth of purchases and get your parking validated.

Reading Terminal is right near the nexus of all public transportation in Philadelphia. Nearly every trolley line entering Center City from the west ends at City Hall, just two blocks from the market. The Broad Street subway line lets off at City Hall as well; the Market-Frankford east/west subway line has a stop at 11th Street, a block south of the market.

Admission to Reading Terminal Market

Admission is free, though walking past the roughly 100 merchants without buying something is tough.

Reading Terminal Market is open 8:00AM-6:00PM Monday-Saturday and 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. Keep in mind that many of the Pennsylvania Dutch merchants are not open Sundays and Mondays.

Must See/Do at Reading Terminal Market
This is one of the best places in the city to get high-quality produce as dirt-cheap prices. If you're hungry now, grab a roast pork sandwich from Tommy DiNic's and head to the food court for some great people watching.

Other Places to Visit Near Reading Terminal Market
If you're looking for more retail therapy, the Rittenhouse neighborhood, with its high-end boutiques, is a few blocks west. You can also take the Market-Frankford subway line to Independence Hall to brush up on your history, or the PHLASH shuttle system to the museum district for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation and the Franklin Institute.

About Maugeri Farms In 1922 Salvatore "Sam" Maugeri came to America along with his wife Alfia from Catania, Sicily. Others from their homeland had settled in the Swedesboro\Woolwich Twp. area. They worked long hours in the summers picking crops in the fields as farm laborers, eventually becoming sharecroppers with another established farmer. Finally, they had saved enough money to buy their own farm and in 1928 they settled on a beautiful farm nestled on the banks of the Oldmans Creek and Maugeri Farms was born. Salvatore farmed successfully for many years and his son Joe took over the operation. With the help of his wife, Anna, Joe built a prosperous business, purchasing another farm on Oldmans Creek Road where he and Anna lived, worked, and raised their family. The new location became the main center of farming operations. Other land was leased for additional production. Eventually, the torch was passed and the next generation took over. Today, Maugeri Farms LLC is run by Sam and Joe Jr. These third generation growers have taken the operation to new heights. The Maugeri brothers cultivate over 600 acres in and around the Oldmans Creek area. They continue to sell their produce to wholesale distributors and markets, as well as supplying many of the roadside markets from Pennsylvania, to the Jersey Shore, to far North Jersey. The rich soils of the Oldmans Creek basin have long been known for producing the sweetest and most flavorful produce in the area.

We are proud to be known as one of the oldest continuously running markets in the state of Connecticut. In the mid 18th century, when packet ships plied their trade along the Eastern seaboard from New York to Boston, we served as an offloading port for fresh meats, produce, groceries and dried goods. Today, Rowayton Market continues to serve the local community and has become a local favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Market offers restaurant quality gourmet prepared foods, fresh cut meats, take-out options, fresh produce, pastries, cakes and a large selection of fine cheeses. Basic household items and fresh flowers are also available. Enjoy your meal on the deck, from coffee in the morning to dessert after dinner. Rowayton Market offers casual waterfront dining alongside the beautiful Five Mile River. On a hot summer day, sit back and enjoy an iced beverage, fresh fruits, salads, gourmet sandwiches or any of our other offerings while enjoying a nice breeze from the river, or perhaps a sunset view at dusk. On rainy days, enjoy the view from one of our tables by the windows overlooking the beautiful river view. Rowayton Market is open year round, with the exceptions of Easter Sunday and Christmas Day!
