Eden Prairie School of Rock is the premier after school music education for kids. We specialize in teaching guitar, drums, piano, vocals, ukulele and bass guitar. Most of our students live in Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Chanhassen, Plymouth, St Louis Park, Edina and Shakopee. But we also have students who come from as far away as Rogers to the north and New Prague to the south! We offer a variety of music lesson programs, depending on a childs age and/or experience. For Ages 5-6: We offer private ukulele lessons, Mommy & Me keyboard lessons and Rookies Band Lessons, so theres something for every child, from the student who wants to study individually to the child who isnt quite ready to leave moms side to the extrovert who wants to star in a rock band! For Ages 6-7: The School of Rock Rookies program inspires first and second graders to pursue music by channeling their inner rock stars. Young rockers learn pitch, rhythm and musical teamwork through musical games and group rehearsal of simple rock songs. This hour-long program is entirely group based, so kids learn how to play in a band right from the start. The program Includes once a week group rehearsal where they will experience the magic of playing all of the major rock instruments: guitar, bass, keyboard/piano, drums, and vocals. For 8+ Years Old: Our program was founded in 1998 on the belief that taking music lessons and never playing a gig is like going to basketball practice every day and never playing a game. After a while, theres no point. So we combine private lessons and group rehearsals so your child learns to play the instrument of their choice and to work as a team within a band setting. Once your child is comfortable playing with other students and has mastered the basics of the playing their instrument with the band s/he will graduate to the Performance Program. In Performance, your child will continue one-on-one lessons with a private music instructor and the group rehearsals prepare students to perform a live rock concert in a real rock venue. This is a real confidence booster (not to mention tons of fun!) Advanced students may audition for additional programs including a monthly performance, a spot on the Road Crew (house band that performs frequently through the summer and occasionally through the school year), Summer Tour which includes performing in multiple cities over multiple dates, perform at Summerfest in Milwaukee as part of the annual School of Rock International Music Festival and the nationally acclaimed AllStars program which is comprised of the top 1.5% of School of Rock students from around the world. For students who want to learn how to write songs, we offer a song writing curriculum. A song writing instructor will teach your child song structure, music composition, lyric writing and where to look for inspiration. This course is for ages 12-18 with a basic knowledge of piano or guitar. We specialize in teaching children music lessons. To ensure the safety of our students, all of our instructors have participated in safety training and undergone a national background check. Unlike most music teachers who are Independent Contractors at the location they teach, School of Rock teachers are all employees who are held to our strict, international standards and are required to adhere our professionally developed curriculum.

Orchestra Hall is home to the internationally renowned Minnesota Orchestra. The hall's unique acoustic features, designed by Cyril M. Harris, provide a perfect venue for any kind of musical performance. Besides the Minnesota Orchestra, Orchestra Hall hosts a wide variety of other guests each year, including classical, jazz, and pop music performers as well as comedians and speakers. A recent renovation has greatly improved the hall's public spaces.

Parking and public transportation to Orchestra Hall
There is metered parking on the adjacent streets and a pay parking ramp attached to the hall. Metro Transit has several bus lines that stop nearby.

Best and worst time to go to Orchestra Hall
Friday nights when the Minnesota Orchestra is in season can be very busy at Orchestra Hall, and extra time should be allowed for getting there and finding a place to park. Weeknight performances are likely to be less crowded and more easily accessible. During the summer, the orchestra hosts Sommerfest, which is a hugely popular four-week fest that draws even larger crowds.

Admission to Orchestra Hall
Pricing for performances varies anywhere from $10 and up.

Must see/do at Orchestra Hall
The excellent acoustics in the performance hall are also visually stunning. There are more than 100 large cubs that create a falling rock pattern that's striking to see. Outside of Orchestra Hall is Peavey Plaza, a public gathering area that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Other places to visit near Orchestra Hall
There are several excellent restaurants near Orchestra Hall. Vincent is right across the street, offering contemporary French food (and one of the city's best burgers); near Vincent is Brit's Pub, a casual British eatery with the bonus of having a rooftop bowling green; Manny's Steakhouse is within three blocks, as is the tiny but excellent La Belle Crepe. Orchestra Hall's location on Nicollet Mall provided a great opportunity to explore the main part of downtown by taking a stroll on Nicollet in either direction; one way takes you to the iconic IDS Center, and the other takes you to Loring Park.

Insider tip for visitors to Orchestra Hall
Minnesota has a somewhat casual approach to dressing for orchestra events. At any given performance, you might see people dressed in anything from black tie to jeans. While some people frown at the casual approach, others point out that they're more likely to enjoy an orchestra performance if they're dressed comfortably. So dress as casually as you wish (or dare).
