This local Y is truly one of Barrington's great resources, as it more than lives up to the organization's commitment to family and community. With programs for young and old – including its youth swim team, the Bayside Stingrays – there's always something to do at the Y. It's especially great for moms and dads, who can use the Y's Prime Time and babysitting while they work out or take a yoga class. One nice plus: an outdoor swimming pool is open during the summer. And as part of YMCA of Greater Providence, members have full access to Ys in Rhode Island and Massachuestts.
The Bay Area Youth Vaishnav Parivar is a Hindu organization. The word 'Vaishnava' literally means one who worships Vishnu (the god Krishna) out of pure love. The two storied temple has a kitchen, a dining area and a hall that can be rented for religious, cultural, marriage and birthday parties. The organization offers computer classes for seniors. For youth, it offers music, dance and SAT preparation classes.
The Family YMCA houses a heated pool, gymnasium, child care facilities, art studio, fitness center, weight room, exercise studio, dance and yoga studio, massage therapy suite and sauna and steam room. The non-profit organization also aims to impact the wider community by offering educational scholarships and support to individuals of all faiths, races, ages, abilities and incomes.
The YMCA is a nonprofit membership organization committed to enriching kids, adults, families and the community through health, fitness and wellness programs and youth programs. The YMCA has programs for all ages, incomes and abilities. This chapter, located on Alves Drive in Cupertino, has an indoor pool, a fitness center, a teen center and a family pavilion. There is also a child care facility here.
The YMCA Surf Camp is internationally known for its incredibly fun and well-organized youth programs. Children of 8 to 17 years from the local San Diego area and as far away as Japan and Germany, come to surf, camp, rockclimb, learn archery and practice team-building exercises from June through August. Located adjacent to an endangered wetland habitat, the location is excellent for the teaching of environmental science. Some programs allow fathers to attend the camp with their sons or daughters, and others are child-focused.
