Langley High School draws its students from the most expensive neighborhoods in McLean and Great Falls. More than 95 percent of the students attend four-year colleges. Langley opened in 1965. Advance placement classes are offered in a variety courses from math to foreign languages. The school has exchange programs with schools in Russia, Germany and Oxford University.
The banner waving above the front door to Saint Luke Catholic School says it all - A Catholic Tradition. This school teaches the Catholic faith along with the academics. The school, which opened in September 1962, was financed through donations from the parish. The first teachers were Felician Sisters and parents. They taught grades 1 to 4. Over the years the school grew to include kindergarten to eighth grade students. The Sisters departed. Modernizations have included a computer lab, up-to-date classroom technology and a science lab. Each day begins and ends with prayer.
Parents Day Out Pre-School is located at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Established in 1980, the center currently welcomes its second generation of McLean's children. The program accepts children between the ages of two and a half and five years, working toward a goal of communication, creativity and overall development. The students meet weekly with a pastor from Trinity Church. Parents can choose between enrolling their child in a five day or three day oer week program.
The Westgate Child Center is a daycare center located in the Lewinsville Center. It cares for children ranging in age from toddler to elementary school. Westgate has a special program with Kent Gardens Elementary, whose students can be driven by school bus to the facility for after-school care. Westgate Child Center is a lively place with brightly colored classrooms.
McLean High School is a public secondary school located on Davidson Road. The school is part of Fairfax County Public Schools and offers a wide range of programs and extracurricular activities for students grades 9 through 12. The school offers all types of programs for students such as theater, music, newspaper, yearbook, math, social studies, science and more. The school also offers numerous sports teams, including football, softball, tennis, lacrosse, gymnastics, golf, cross country, dance, crew, basketball, and baseball.
