Mad Science's programs are geared toward children in elementary school and preschool. Ideal for birthday parties, after-school programs, in-class field trips and assemblies, the programs introduce children to a variety of science projects. Children have the opportunity to experiment with electricity, chemicals, magnets, rocket-racers, periscopes and more.
This childcare center has been operating since 1997. Owner/director Kelly Hittle strives to provide an educational childcare center with a personal touch. It has the home-like feeling of an in-home day care with an educational program, as well. Unlike some other centers, it provides all meals. Staff are long-term and have backgrounds in early childhood education. Children from 1 month to 5 years old are accepted. Hittle also has a music degree, and sometimes entertains the children with her autoharp.
This specialty program is supplemental and offers K - 12 enrichment classes to home schooled families. In a unique parent partnership, students are able to come for a select series of classes. The school has a full-day kindergarten program, a preschool, a reading program for struggling readers, a centered special education K-5th grade program and Head Start, which is a program for income-qualifying families that prepares students for kindergarten. Sherwood Forest was rebuilt in 2008.
