They know fishing in Montauk, and the largest charter boat fleet in town is the Star Island Yacht Club and Marina, which carries the distinction of hosting the annual shark tournament as well as 19 mako and thresher contests (check the calendar on the website). It's not all about competition, though: cruising clubs meet here, and sportspeople flock from all over to visit the largest tackle shop in the East. Snug Harbor Marina and Motel are located on Lake Montauk with an entrance on the corner of West Lake and Star Island drives. The marina can accomodate boats up to 45 feet for seasonal and transient dockage. There is a comfort station, washers and dryers, ice and a nearby boat launching ramp. At the motel, suites and efficiencies are available lakeside or poolside. Guests and boaters can use the picnic area and barbeques, playground, volleyball court and pool.
