College of American Pathologists is a medical society that serves more than 15,000 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world. Its members are involved in a range of disciplines, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, neuropathology, forensic pathology, blood banking, clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, genetics and molecular pathology. The college s laboratory program is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and meets the needs of a variety of laboratory settings, including university medical centers and physician office laboratories. Its anatomic pathology education program allows laboratories to regularly evaluate their performance and improve the accuracy of patient results. The college also offers specialized programs for multihospital systems and academic medical centers with numerous testing locations and national commercial reference laboratories. College of American Pathologists is headquartered in Northfield, Ill.
