We are a community of Jewish Americans who freely support one another, through the person to person sharing of funds for medical expenses, and the pursuit of a sustained healthier lifestyle, that results in a higher quality of life and the reduction of medically based financial burdens for its members. It is not health insurance and should not be considered an alternative to or substitute for medical insurance. The Health Care Sharing Ministry, in this case, United Refuah HealthShare?, facilitates the sharing of these expenses among members. As a member of United Refuah HealthShare, you’ll not only save money, but you will have complete control over your healthcare decisions with our nationwide Open Network structure. That means you can go to any doctor or healthcare provider that you want. Health Care Sharing is not insurance and is not new. For decades, other religions have practiced medical cost sharing. Since the 1980’s, state laws and regulations have officially recognized Health Care Sharing Ministries. With the passage of the Affordable Care Act (“ObamaCare”) the federal government provided a special exemption to members of a recognized Health Care Sharing Ministry from the mandate that requires individuals to purchase health insurance. The various federal and state laws limit membership in Health Care Sharing Ministries to those who declare that they share common ethical or religious beliefs with one another. That is why health care sharing has not previously been available to members of the Jewish faith. Recently, United Refuah HealthShare? acquired a certificate that allows it to operate as a Health Care Sharing Organization. This now makes it available for members of the Jewish faith to share their expenses with one another.
