Today JVS Garage Door Co. has a fleet of trucks that services Port Clinton Freemont Tffin Sandusky Norwalk and Huron. ; traveling even farther on large jobs, but 35 years ago it started as a small part time business. Jim & Bev Schwind originally started JVS Garage Door selling & installing electric garage door openers in their local market. Slowly as the business grew JVS also ventured into servicing, selling, and installing garage doors. In 1983 the Schwinds future son in law, Dick Lano, joined the company. With the two men working in the field and the mother & daughter team of Bev & Jami Schwind running the office, the business continued to expand. In 1990 the Schwinds sold their interests in the company to Dick & Jami Lano, and JVS Garage Door started a new era under the leadership of Dick. In 2002 JVS moved into their spacious new and current building on 20 Park Dr., in the Port Clinton Office Industrial Park; just down the street from their old shop. Focht Construction built it and Fellhauer Mechanical Systems did all the wiring, mechanical and plumbing; both are Port Clinton companies. One of the most exciting features of our new location is the large and open showroom. Our showroom features fully operational models of doors & electric openers which allows the customer to research the different styles of doors, the many window options, and color selections that are available; basically kick the tires before buying. Also on view for inspection are cupolas, weathervanes, and various types of screens for your garage door openings, all these can be professionally installed by JVS Garage Door.Showroom hours are M-F 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, but after hours or Saturday showings can be arraigned by appointment.
