The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization located downtown near St. Augustine Church. It is a volunteer organization that hosts various church and youth activities throughout the year. Membership is open to men age 18 and over. Its members meet on Tuesday evenings.
The Portuguese National Club on Railroad Avenue promotes and encourages educational, social, athletic and civic activities to Stoughton and nearby communities. The foundation is made up of approximately 250 members. The hall on Railroad Avenue is available to rent for gatherings and functions, including wedding receptions, anniversary parties, birthday parties and corporate functions. The bar is fully stocked and there are three large televisions to view events on. There is also a pool table, shuffleboard and foosball table for entertainment. It can also cater your event with a full menu available, including fresh seafood, meat and poultry dishes.
Located behind Canton High School, American Legion Post 24 is a veterans organization dedicated to patriotism, service and the development of the youth in its surrounding community. The center accommodates a number of American Legion meetings that are held on a monthly basis. The hall is available for rental and seats up to 105 guests. The Rising Star Masonic Lodge meets at this location to carry out its mission of brotherly love and edification. The local Stoughton chapter continues the tradition of the global organization, focusing on temperance, fortitude, prudence, justice, faith, hope and charity. The fraternal organization boasts of its "tolerance of mankind and acceptance of all good men."
American Legion is a nationwide organization that works to support veterans and community programs all around the country. The local Post No. 18 welcomes veterans from all branches of the armed forces. The post has a banquet hall for rental for all types of social events, corporate functions and parties and also hosts dedication ceremonies, community events and holiday activities.
Located in the old Adelaide Dodge Walsh School building, American Legion Post 194 is now open to the public for lunch. There is also a rental hall available for non-member functions.
The Knights of Columbus Grand Lodge is the lodging hall of Stoughton's local Council 200 and is located on Seaver Street in downtown Stoughton. The hall has a capacity of 120 people and can host your next function or gathering. The hall has a large dance floor available that can also be converted to a large seating area. There is also a bar and small kitchen for cooking. Popular occasions hosted here include weddings, anniversary parties and fundraisers.
Sharon's American Legion's location—down a steep hill and off an easy-to-miss road—is difficult to find only for first-time visitors. But the converted house, two streets past the Shaw's Plaza shopping center, is a familiar site for regulars, some of whom have been going there for almost the entire 40 years it's been open. Knights of Columbus Council 2525 is a Catholic men's philanthropic organization. Located on the Our Lady of Victory grounds, it also supports St. Francis Church and Our Lady of Assumption. The Knights of Columbus organizes fund-raisers and makes charitable donations to the Champ House, the Special Olympics and local Catholic schools, among others.
