To begin with, Maureen & Paul Kastl have been in theatre since 1961 - appearing in Broadway Shows and over 75 national television commercials, as Industrial Performers, and as Industrial Theatrical Producers. They opened the Broadway Bound Theatrical & Dance Center in 1989 because there were no schools that taught HOW to get to Broadway! Few dance schools realize the importance of being "Triple Threat" performers. Even at a chorus call, a performer will be asked to learn and perform a dance combination, sing at least 16 bars of an up tempo or ballad, and maybe even read a script with the possibility of an understudy in the future. So...What makes Broadway Bound so "Unique?" Well, we have a most outstanding staff of dedicated instructors who share the same philosophy as we do. We have three voice teachers, two piano teachers, two jazz teachers, a tap teacher, two ballet teachers, one "Intro to Dance" teacher and one musical comedy instructor...Mrs. Kastl along with an acting teacher Mr. Kastl. Broadway Bound is a stepping stone for students who want to be on Broadway one day ( For those students we have the Broadway Bound M/C Workshop Program ) or for students who want to learn to sing, dance or act just for fun. Our goal is to make all lessons affordable and top of the line! Our "unique" Young Peoples Musical Comedy Workshop Program is for students between 12 and 18. They must AUDITION for the Workshop and if they are accepted, they meet once a week on Fridays for two and a half hours when they work with top profesionalsin creating a totally original musical. The work is of the highest caliber and rehearsals are run very much like they would be for a broadway show. Finally, they will go into a professional theater, where they will do three days of shows for thousands of school children, many their own age, and two evening performances for the general public. ( This part of the school is a Non-Profit New Jersey Arts and Education Program. ) We have over 100 voice students and a few hundred dance, acting and musical comedy students, so were not overly crowded. Philosophy Its very simple actually. We are a "hands on" team of professionals. The owners Mr. & Mrs. Kastl have devoted their lives to not only helping students become better at what ever they are studying, but also building good character.
