The Trinity Lutheran Church has deep roots in the community, but is a contemporary church. The church is welcoming to everyone and has a modern service every week at 11am on Sunday, along with its more traditional service at 8:30am. There is a very diverse worship and a wide range of service opportunites including working at soup kitchens to service trips to Jamaica, Biloxi, Miss. and New Orleans. Every year, the church hosts an Oktoberfest festival to celebrate the Lutheran heritage with games, music and food. The church has a preschool, before and after school programs and a summer camp up to 5th grade. Community events are hosted in the church including Boy Scout and Girl Scout meetings and a Thanksgiving meal with 4 local congregations.
Cornerstone Bible Church is a nondenominational organization that was founded in 1971. The current space that they occupy on Cole Drive was opened on July 1, 2000, and houses several ministries geared toward the spiritual education of both children and adults. Like the name suggests, the church believes that the Biblical word is a guide to live in a manner that pleases God, and also outlines how to reconcile our relationship with Jesus.
Established in 1910, Luxomni Baptist Church serves the Lilburn community. Pastor Glenn Mann leads services on Sunday and is heavily involved in all church activities. Men's fellowship breakfasts are held quarterly and the church is affiliated with many ministries to further the spread of its teachings. White Oak Baptist Church has served the Lilburn area since 1974. With more than 16 ministries to connect to its community, the church strives to save souls with a traditional approach to worship and outreach programs.
St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church provides social and spiritual services to those in the Lilburn area. Besides daily and weekly Mass, St. Stephen hosts a variety of community outreach, religious education and youth programs.
The Lilburn City Park, located behind the Calvin Fitchett Municipal Complex, is a popular gathering place in Old Town.
The 10-acre park is at the heart of Lilburn activities, hosting city-sponsored events throughout the year. It's also where you'll find joggers, walkers, kids on playground equipment, tennis players, church picnickers, frisbee throwers and kite flyers. The park was recently renovated with a new track, upgraded playground equipment and decorative lighting and benches. The walking/jogging track, which has graveled and rubberized portions, is nearly a half-mile around its largest loop.
The tennis courts are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Two courts may be reserved for ALTA and USTA play.
A large pavilion, built in 2004, is available for group rentals, with rates beginning at $60 for two hours for city residents and $85 for non-residents. There is also a large, open field, where outdoor events are frequently held, which offers plenty of room for a game of catch or to sit in the sun and enjoy a book. A covered bandstand with a raised stage adjoins the field.
Berean is a conservative Baptist Church that was founded in 1990. The Church's 13 ministries are focused on child and adult education. Sunday services are broadcasted to the general public via their Web page. The church's pastor invites anyone who may be interested in joining their community to attend one of the Sunday services.
Calvary Baptist Church was founded in 1959. It is at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Harbins Road, with entrances from each. The church gives members and newcomers a variety of support services, including preschool, children's, youth, women's and adult ministries. Churchgoers are encouraged to come as they are for services; there's no need to dress in anything other than what makes you comfortable.
Lilburn Oaks Baptist Church sits on a large lot with the chapel set near the back but is still visible from the road. There is a separate nursery of the side of the chapel and plenty of free parking. This picturesque Baptist church has part of the Lilburn community for over 35 years.
You can power walk, jog, stroll and bike through Lilburn, thanks to the Camp Creek Greenway Trail, which runs east to west within the city limits.
The trail, comprised of pavement and boardwalk, connects Old Town with Rockbridge Road (1.36 miles) to the west and Killian Hill Road (1.04 miles) to the east. Both ends of the trail meet at Lilburn City Park.
Including the half-mile trail in the park, there are three miles of easily accessible trails that can accommodate walkers, runners and cyclists of all skill levels.
The Greenway weaves through wooded areas and alongside the railway that runs through town. There are bridges, rest areas and a passive park with a small loop trail. The trail has become a popular lunch hour activity for people who want to get a little bit of exercise in the middle of the workday.
Pets are allowed, but owners are expected to clean up after them.
The Lilburn Cooperative Ministry, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, serves Lilburn, Mountain Park, Stone Mountain and parts of Tucker with food, clothing and emergency financial assistance to those in need. Founded in 1994, the Lilburn Coop, as it is called by its supporters, also provides school supplies, budget planning, employment services and follow-up support. It partners with dozens of local churches on various efforts throughout the year. Its Lily's Cloak thrift store offers low-cost clothing and other goods, with the revenue used to support the ministry. Monetary, food and clothing donations are accepted. Volunteers are welcome to work in the thrift store and to sort and collect donations. Donations of clothes and food are accepted in the rear of the building.
Located at the intersection of Arcado and Lilburn-Stone Mountain roads, Parkview Church is "a community of ordinary people who are finding all they need for life in the person of Jesus," according to the welcome message on its website. The church holds one worship service each Sunday, followed by fellowship and Sunday School. Parkview Church School, founded in 1992 as a ministry of the church, is a covenant community school that teaches Kindergarten through the eighth grade. As a member of the Child Light Schools Association, it sends 60 percent of its graduating eighth-graders to public school and 40 percent to private schools.
The Iglesia Bautista Hispanoamericana is located on a huge lot on Burns road and is made up of two separate buildings. It has a nice playground for children and children's decorations can be seen all over the grounds. Parking is not an issue at this church and it is highly visible from the road.
Lucerne Baptist Church has been part of the Lilburn Community since 1969. This location is host to two congregations: Lucerne Baptist Church and Haitian Baptist Church of the Redeemer. Lucerne has Sunday worship services as well as a youth program, bible study and childcare services. This beautiful church is located on a large lot with ample parking.
Goodwill is located within Lilburn Square on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn. Customers can drop off donations and buy clothing at this location. Goodwill has an assortment of furniture along with men's, women's and children's clothing. Furniture donations are also accepted here.
The St. John Neumann Church has been a part of the Lilburn community since 1985. Since then, the church has added a new addition, and is now constructing a reception hall for church functions. There are church offerings in both English and Spanish and during the weekend there is a nursery during mass.
The church offers many community programs, such as a softball league, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and has connections to Catholic Charities of Atlanta for food and clothing drives, along with aid trips to Haiti. In addition, there is Sunday School for Pre-K up to 5th grade and a teen ministry program for up to 12th grade. The K-8 St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School is next door and the church hosts many of the school functions, such as graduation.
Harmony Grove United Methodist Church has been serving the Lilburn area since April 7, 1881. With several ministries revolving around fellowship and education, the church also takes an active role in community development, including work with Angel Food ministries, ESL classes and international missions work. Founded in 1980, Calvary Chapel has been a center for worship services, Bible study, community service and a central point for home fellowships. The home fellowships are groups that meet periodically outside the church with a common link, such as a group for mothers or married couples.
