The Porter County Health Department comprises five divisions, including environmental, food service, public health nursing, vital records and public health emergency response and preparedness. Based in Valparaiso, Ind., the department provides immunizations, such as Meningitis, Varicella and Pertussis. It offers school-based vaccination clinics for students studying in several school districts, consisting of Valparaiso Community Schools, Duneland School Corp. and Union Township Schools. In addition, the department monitors beaches and conducts weekly sampling of water throughout the summer months.
