BL Companies specializes in providing architectural, engineering and environmental services. The company was founded more than 20 years ago in Meriden, Conn. It started out of a two-bedroom apartment and has grown to employ more than 200 people at five different locations throughout the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic States. Clients include retail, residential and commercial developers. The company also works for educational facility design, downtown revitalization, transportation engineering and environmental consulting companies. BL Companies did the master planning for the Newbury Village project, which included a 265,000-square-foot luxury apartment complex, a Home Depot store, Isaac Charter School, Riverview Corporate Center and multiple other shops, schools and businesses.
