Adlerian Child Care Center has four locations in the Columbia area. It utilizes the techniques of psychiatrist Alfred Adller to instruct and guide children. All teachers are trained in Adlerian psychology and CPR. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided, as are age-appropriate programs for infants up to children in 5th grade. The facility features a playground, a swimming pool and basketball courts. Part- and full-time programs are available. Adlerian Child Care Center also offers summer camps.
Sonshine Learning Center is a ministry of the Greenville First Church of the Nazarene. It is an alternative K–5 school that not only teaches children the basics but also teaches them to know Jesus Christ. Children also participate in activities and exercises, with a full playground for recess.
Located behind Lexington County's municipal center, the United Methodist Church celebrated 160 years of worship in November 2010. From its humble log cabin beginnings on Fort Street to its steepled brick multiplex property today, the facilities of Lexington United Methodist Church include a prayer room, a ministry center, an arts and crafts room, basketball courts and a 12,000-square-foot educational building. The expansions encourage community interaction, sharing and prayer.
Preschool Academy is located at the intersection of Wappoo Drive and Pineview Road. The daycare center offers transportation to and from local elementary schools. Hot meals, dance classes and before- and after-school programs are available for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years old.
Montessori School of Mount Pleasant employs only educators with training in Resources of Infant Educatiors (RIE) or Montessori teaching techniques.
The focus is on providing intensive edcuation for the child's first years of life. They contend the approach develops budding, empathetic relationships between infants and their caregivers; toddlers demonstrating deep concentration or leading small group activities; and self-motivated, self-assured primary students who collaborate on work and conflict negotiation for the good of the community.
