Kenner Police Department provides professional law enforcement and public safety services to the communities based in Kenner City, La. The department offers home security and inspection services that are conducted by a crime prevention unit for the residents of the city. Its criminal investigations division is responsible for investigating felony and misdemeanor crimes, and also for the investigation and apprehension of criminals who would go on to commit additional crimes. The department has an internal affairs division that performs a staff function in support of the office of the chief of police. It manages administrative and disciplinary matters, recruits and hires, conducts applicant background investigations, oversees personnel issues, and assists in the formation of departmental policies and regulations, and also oversees the legal affairs division. It operates an explorer program aimed at young people who are interested in a law enforcement career, providing them instructions about police department operations, and volunteer their time to help at various police department and community events.
