The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA, near the border of Monroe, offers activities including travel basketball league, soccer, basketball, tee-ball and tennis. The outdoor center in Monroe has three separate pools, boating, miniature golf, tennis and basketball on 47 acres of woodland. It is closed after Labor Day. The Trefoil site has a fitness center and conducts dance, gymnastics and aerobics classes. Dawn Dalrymple is the executive director.
Since 1995, the professional and friendly staff at Apple Tree Day Care & Preschool have been caring for children. Housed in a welcoming red wooden house, there are bright and spacious rooms for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged kids throughout the facility. Valley Preschool is on North Granby Road, just north of Granby Center. The school shares a building with the First Congregational Church in Granby and serves children ages 3 and 4.
Orange Music Studio LLC offers private and group classes for lessons on piano, guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and violin. Moreover, the studio is willing to host birthday parties.
Wee Care offers offers preschool and nursery school care. The center and has been in Manchester since 1977. The daycare, housed in a one-story brick building, has three fenced-in outside play areas. It offers pick-up and drop-off services and has capacity for up to 55 children.
Located in the Avon Congregational Church, Avon Nursery School offers a preschool education for children ages three to five. The school follows the State of Connecticut's Frameworks for Preschool Education and elements from The Creative Curriculum.
The school was established about 1990 and a year-round, full-day program was started in 2009. Its capacity is 39 children. The campus includes a playground on 8.5 acres.
The school's philosophy comes from the Bible verses in the book of Ephesians 3:14-19.

Located just outside of Granby center on West Granby Road, Creative Learning Preschool & Childcare Center, Inc., provides services for children six weeks - 12 years old. It was founded under its current structure and location in 1979.
The Creative Learning Preschool & Childcare Center, Inc., was once The YWCA Creative Learning Preschool and before that they were the YWCA Tiny Tots program which was originally established in 1969. Barbara Swanson is the founder and former owner of the preschool and childcare center and she has been with them from the start. Her son, Jeff Swanson is the current owner.
